Brigadier General Md. Anwar Shafique, ndc, psc, PhD, M Phil, MBA, MSS, PGD (USA) is one of the renowned officers of Bangladesh Army. He joined Army in 1985 and was commissioned in East Bengal Regiment in 1987. He has extraordinary specialization and extensive working experience over 34 years in Army with a noteworthy service to the Nation and Army. In his long colorful career, he served in important appointments of Command, Staff and Instructional responsibilities. He is one of the highest National Medal recipients. He served as General Staff in Army Headquarters and Forces Intelligence Headquarters, which gave him valuable experience and exposure to comprehend national-level issues. He was also awarded as 'Distinguished Instructor' in School of Military Intelligence and was 'Training Officer-In-Charge' of NCOs' Academy. Besides, he served as Deputy Commandant of Bangladesh Infantry Regimental Centre and Commandant of Border Guard Training Centre and College. He served as Commanding officer of number of reputed Battalions of Army and BGB. Besides, served as Commander of two Sectors and Region Commander of BGB North-West Region (about 40% of Bangladesh-India land border including 16 Districts). He has exceptionally vast experience, exposure and understanding on Border Management and Cross Border Trade related issues through physical involvement. He made outstanding contributions in win-win implementation of the historic "Bangladesh-India Land Border Agreement". Mentionable, the largest Bangladeshi APL of 400 Acres at Adatala, Naogaon district was regained by his initiative. He was important stakeholder in establishment of Bangla Bandha and Birol ICP and was also responsible for 07 ICPS. Besides he made exceptional contributions in preparing 'Strategic Estimates' for solution of Border-related problems/issues. He served in Counter Insurgency Operation in Chottogram Hill Tracts number of times. Besides, he served in United Nations twice as Military Assistant to Chief of Staff in Ivory Coast and in Iraq-Kuwait contingent. He attended number of Courses home and abroad with very high grading including top position. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College and obtained higher degree from National Defence College. He also successfully completed 04 courses under Cranfield University of UK and US Pacific Air Command. Besides, he completed 19 Courses under United Nations including French Language. He obtained prestigious degree of MPhil and PhD and also Graduation & Diploma on "Advance Intelligence" from USA. He outstandingly secured first position in whole Army in "Army Essay Competition-2009" and has many publications in reputed International and National Journals. Besides, he had main role and contribution in writing the most Fundamental Training Pamphlet of Bangladesh Army; "GSTP-2631(B). As Chief Inspector of Bangladesh University of Professionals he was In-Charge of all Academic Programs and Development of all (56) Affiliated Institutions including University's in-house Academic Programs. Besides, as Last DMD of Sena Kallyan Shangstha (a Conglomerate) looked after all aspects of its business. He successfully worked as Managing Director of Astha Life Insurance Co. creating and setting record-breaking benchmarks as smart role model company. He has visited many countries around the globe.
